Cranial Sea Meets Mountain: Prologue(Under planning)
"Cranial Sea Meets Mountain" borrows from ancient Chinese landscape art to metaphorically represent the projection of the self. The exhibition focuses on the encounters of individuals in the context of the era, with a core rooted in Chinese traditional culture and personal, unique physical and mental experiences. It uses traditional culture as a medium to convey the image of "reality" after being projected, transformed, and modified in the mind.
In the current age of globalization, each person is both a global citizen and a unique individual caught in the torrent of the times. Due to the super interconnectedness of the world, it is almost impossible for us to escape the shaping forces of our era. When a major event occurs, the smooth surface of life ripples, routines are disrupted, and everyone is swept along. Some may collectively voice similar sentiments driven by the "collective unconscious," while others, limited by the cognitive gaps between individuals, are left behind by the "mainstream" of the era. How does the individual exist amidst the ebb and flow of the times? In this exhibition, towering "mountains" stand in the individual's mind, becoming symbols of emotional attachment, enduring beliefs, and joyous, simple, or devout obsessions. The mountains, serving as barriers, prevent outsiders from seeing through the rich spiritual world of the individual; yet, by standing firm, the individual can stabilize themselves in the torrent of the times.
A section of the exhibition will explore the "events" depicted in different works, presenting the thoughts and diverse artistic inquiries of Chinese artists of various ages as they navigate through "fluctuations." It will showcase the individual's concepts in the face of changing times, as well as the logically coherent views formed under various barriers such as education, beliefs, society, geography, and life experiences. Different forms of mountains are "projected" within this cranial sea.
